RE: REPORT ON STORM PREPARATIONS
Chief Russo, our Emergency Management Director has done a great job in coordinating our preparedness and will be actively managing the event response with Deputy Fire Chief Frazier.
Below is a summary of our Departmental activities in preparation for the storm to begin Thursday morning and continue until late Thursday evening.
Our staff is ready. We began preparing on Tuesday in the event of significant snow fall and flooding.
We are being advised to be the most concerned with high tide on Thursday afternoon at 12:41 pm. We are likely to experience some minor- moderate flooding in northeast and north facing locations. Temporary road closures are likely.
If the forecast changes, we are prepared to adjust our plans to meet the conditions as necessary.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
All departmental equipment is ready to be deployed as needed
Sufficient sand, salt and fuel stock piled.
Staff and sub-contractors on-call and ready for the event.
We are prepared for several days of full scale operations if the storm requires it
Straits Pond has been lowered in preparation for the storm
Gunrock Seawall contractor addressing work site with pre-designated emergency plan
POLICE DEPARTMENT
All staff and vehicles ready
Bay Street to be made one way temporarily to aid in snow removal
Winter Parking ban in place – Code Red Reminder to be issued
FIRE DEPARTMENT
All staff and vehicles ready
Central and Greenhill Station operational and fully staffed
Fire Department will open the Village Station
EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER
Staff ready to open if necessary
LIGHT DEPARTMENT
Two stand-by crews will be stationed in Town for the duration of the event to address any outages that may occur.
SEWER DEPARTMENT
Staff will be on-site for duration of the event
All pumps have been exercised and are ready if needed
COMMUNICATIONS
Code Red messages will be issued regarding Parking restrictions, Bay Street one way, and general advisory
This memo will be posted on Town Web Site, Cable TV and Fire Department Facebook page and to the Hull Times.
