Why is the Flag at Half-Staff?

Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charles D. Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, April 19, 2018, the day of interment, in honor of Staff Sergeant Robert F. Campbell, MA Air National Guard, of Holliston, Massachusetts, who passed away on April 9, 2018.

Also, please be advised that the date of interment for Officer Sean Gannon of the Yarmouth Police Department, who tragically died in the line of duty, has been set for Wednesday, April 18, 2018.

Following these orders, and the 4-13-2018 order for AOSR Ryan William Wainwright, USN of Attleboro, Massachusetts, the United States and Commonwealth flags should remain at half-staff on Monday, April 16; Tuesday, April 17; Wednesday, April 18; and through sunset on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

All flags should return to full-staff at sunrise on Friday, April 20, 2018.
