TOWN WIDE EMERGENCY GENERATORS
Tuesday, November 29th at 1:00 pm
On Tuesday, November 29th at 1:00 pm we will be testing the town wide emergency generator system. At the beginning of the test (approximately 1:00 pm) there will be a brief power outage and then the generators will power up to restore service. The generators will run for 10 minutes or so. The generators will then be powered down and another brief outage will occur while we transition back to our regular power source. The entire testing period should conclude by 1:45, with two brief power interruptions of 5 minutes each.
The town wide emergency generators will be in service from December 1st, 2022 to March 31st, 2023. The generators have the capacity to provide electricity to the entire town in the event the National Grid transmission line failure, which provides electricity to our system. In the event of a power failure our line crew will be dispatched to power the generators, which involves coordinating actions with National Grid staff to close certain circuits. It will take approximately one hour for the generators to be activated. The generators will then operate as long as needed. The generators are in place to ensure that your homes are warm and lit during the most difficult months of the year.
