Why is the Flag at Half Staff on October 6, 2019?

Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings on Sunday, October 6, 2019 from sunrise until sunset in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service and in accordance with U.S. Public Law 107-51.
