Message from Aquarion Water Regarding Installation of a New Water Main

Good afternoon,

As you may know, on June 1st, the Hull BOS approved the installation of a new water main on L Street.

The project consists of installing 330 feet of new 6-inch ductile iron water main, new water services, a fire hydrant, and associated appurtenances on L Street to replace the existing 2.25” main and services.  The main installation is being done to accommodate a proposed new house and water service at 6 L Street and would also address an undersized water main.  The proposed extension will increase the availability of fire protection for the neighborhood, including the middle school.

Below is the proposed schedule for construction:

Next week, the contractor, Hub Construction, will mobilize to the area, bringing equipment as well as material.

On Thursday August 24th, Aquarion field staff will tap the main on Central Ave and make the connection for the new main.

The trench on Central Ave will be paved on Friday August 25th.

During the week of August 28th the contractor plans to do the following:

·         Install the water main and fire hydrant on L Street.
·         Pressure test the new main

Starting on Tuesday September 5th the main will be disinfected and flushed. A sample will be taken to the lab and if the sample comes back clean, Aquarion field staff will begin connecting water services on L Street to the new main starting on Monday September 11th.

The hours of construction will be 7am -4pm, and the contractor will have a police detail directing traffic and keeping the public safe.

The residents have been informed of the proposed schedule and we have been in contact with the school department to inform them of the project and the timing.

The contractor has been in contact with Hull DPW and will comply with their temporary and final paving requirements.
