Notice from Treasurer/Collector - Due Date Extensions


Last week, the state Legislature passed and Governor Baker signed “An Act to Address Challenges Faced by Municipalities and State Authorities Resulting from COVID-19.” The new law gives the Board of Selectmen the authority to extend due dates for real estate and personal property tax payments and applications for exemptions and to waive interest and penalties on certain municipal tax and other bills paid on or before June 29, 2020.



The Board of Selectmen has voted to extend the due dates of the following bills:



Fourth Quarter Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Bills:

            Original Due Date: May 1, 2020

            New Due Date: June 1, 2020



Motor Vehicle Excise

Any bills issued with a due date of March 10, 2020, or later are now due on June 1, 2020, regardless of the due date printed on the bill.

      Motor Vehicle Commitment # 1 original due date 3/16/20 now June 1, 2020

                                                       # 2 original due date 4/22/20 now June 1, 2020



      Boat Excise will not be affected as the due date is June 15, 2020



Sewer Utility Bills:

Any bills issued with a due date of March 10, 2020, or later are now due on June 1, 2020, regardless of the due date printed on the bill.

                                Sewer Bill 2nd Quarter original due date 3/19/20 now June 1, 2020



Exemption and Deferral Applications:

The Board is also extending the due date of Property Tax Personal Exemption and Tax Deferral Applications:

            Original Due Date: April 1, 2020

            Extended Due Date: June 1, 2020



In addition, The Board is waiving all interest and other penalties until June 29, 2020 in the event of a late payment of any real estate, personal property, motor vehicle excise, sewer utility bill with a due date of March 10, 2020 or later. Hull taxpayers now have until June 29, 2020 to make the payment without incurring interest or other penalties.



Under the new state law, payments made after June 29, 2020 will be subject to interest and penalties back to the due date of June 1.



Hull taxpayers are encouraged to use the town’s online payment option to conveniently pay real estate, personal property, excise taxes, and sewer bills. If a payment cannot be paid online please utilize the payment drop box outside of Town Hall or call the office at 781-925-2251.
