REPORTING HULL’S NUMBERS

The Mass Department of Public Health (MADPH) will be updating their website every Wednesday evening with a case count for each city and town in the Commonwealth.  MADPH collects information from public and private medical sources to create their statistical reports.  Cities and Town’s do not have access to all the source data used by MADPH to create their reports.  Cities and Towns do not generate their own reports.  MADPH is the sole agency responsible for generating, maintaining and reporting the statewide official statistics on Covid-19’s impact on the Commonwealth. 

Although some residents have been critical of the Town for not reporting Hull’s statistics, the Town has adhered to MADPH’s request made to all cities and Towns, to not independently report local community statistical reports that were created by MADPH.  While some towns chose not to follow this recommendation Hull as well as many other communities, respected this request.  This was done because the statistics were not generated by local public health officials and MADPH, the source of the statistics, requested that they not disseminated.   

We continue to believe that the authoritative source for reports on Covid-19 is MADPH, who now feels there is a large enough statewide data base to begin releasing information on local impacts as well as on a county basis.
